Wellfound, formerly AngelList Talent, is the free startup job board where funded companies post roles first, which makes it a dated buying signal as well as a hiring channel.
What is
Wellfound (AngelList)
Wellfound is the startup job marketplace that used to be called AngelList Talent. Its core job is to connect venture-backed companies with candidates who want to work at that kind of company, and it carries a few hundred thousand active listings from startups that mostly do their hiring here first. For a founder or a hiring manager the appeal is that posting is free and unlimited. You publish a role, candidates apply through the platform, and everything runs through one inbox. Paid tiers add outbound messaging, better search and a managed sourcing layer when a role is hard to fill on inbound alone. In a GTM stack Wellfound plays a second role that has nothing to do with recruiting. A company posting an SDR, a BDR or an RevOps role is publishing a dated, signed description of a problem it is trying to solve, and startups often post here days before the same role reaches LinkedIn. Scraping those listings gives you a buying signal with a timestamp on it. At Nebor we read Wellfound alongside LinkedIn in the hiring-signal workflows we build, because the two boards cover different halves of the market. LinkedIn holds the bulk of it, and Wellfound holds the funded companies that hire in a hurry, which is usually the half with budget already approved.
Integrations and the modern GTM stack
Wellfound is a job marketplace first, so it has no GTM connectors of its own. Everything below is how teams actually get its data out and into a stack:
Apify and PhantomBuster | Community scrapers read Wellfound listings on a schedule and return them as structured rows. This is the usual route, because there is no public listings API. |
Clay | Takes those rows as one record per posting, then filters, enriches and scores them against your ICP before anything is sent. |
Instantly, Lemlist and HeyReach | Receive the qualified rows and run the timed outreach while the role is still open. |
Greenhouse, Lever and Ashby | Wellfound syncs with the common applicant tracking systems, so applications land where your hiring team already works. |
Slack | Used through your automation layer to alert the team when a watched company posts a role worth acting on. |
Pro’s
Posting is free and unlimited, so the board costs a startup nothing to use as its main hiring channel.
Listings carry salary and equity ranges up front, which filters out mismatched applicants before they apply.
The audience is self-selected for startup work, so applicants arrive expecting early-stage conditions.
Funding rounds, team size and investors sit next to the listing, which is useful context for a GTM signal.
Startups often publish here days ahead of LinkedIn, so a scrape catches the signal earlier.
Third-party scrapers on Apify make the listings straightforward to pull into Clay on a schedule.
Cons
Coverage skews heavily to venture-backed technology companies, so whole industries are missing.
Staffing agencies and third-party recruiters are banned, which rules the platform out for agency teams.
Recruiter seats start at $250 a month each, which adds up fast across a hiring team.
There is no official public API for listings, so signal use depends on scraping and its upkeep.
