A LinkedIn contact finder that lives in your browser, backed by an unusually deep personal-email database and a search portal covering 350 million professionals.
What is
ContactOut
An independent audit of 1.3 million lookups run between March and May 2026 found ContactOut returned an email on 48.2% of them, second of the four finders tested. It is a Chrome extension that sits on a LinkedIn profile and hands back work emails, personal emails and direct dials for the person on screen. The rest of the product grew around that extension. A Search Portal covers 350 million professionals across 40 million companies with more than 20 filters, and alongside it sit an email campaign sender, a cloud dialer, a Google Sheets add-on called ContactSheets, and an API with people search and reverse email lookup. Rob Liu built the first version in 2015 so recruiters could pull a candidate's personal address off LinkedIn, and that heritage still shows in the product. ATS connectors for Lever, Greenhouse and Bullhorn sit beside Salesforce and HubSpot, and the 150 million personal emails remain the part of the database rivals struggle to match. ContactOut earns a rung in a waterfall rather than the first call on a B2B list, because 48.2% against Wiza's 55.2% over the same audit window is a gap you feel across a few thousand rows. Nebor does not run it, and the personal email coverage is the reason we would still test it.
Integrations and the modern GTM stack
ContactOut connects outward in two directions at once, one built for recruiters pushing candidates into an ATS and one built for sellers pushing contacts into a CRM. The programmatic routes are real but gated, since an API token is issued after a call rather than from a settings page.
The surface the whole product was built on. The extension adds a button to a profile, a search result and a company page, reveals work and personal emails plus direct dials, and bulk reveals a page of results into a list. The free plan is limited to standard LinkedIn, so Recruiter and Sales Navigator pages need a paid seat. | |
Salesforce and HubSpot | Contacts save straight from LinkedIn or the Search Portal into either CRM, and ContactOut writes into its own custom fields so an existing record does not get overwritten. This is the route most sales teams use, and it is the one the Team tier is priced around. |
Lever, Greenhouse and Bullhorn | Candidate records push into all three ATS platforms in one click from any ContactOut surface, using the same custom-field approach that protects existing data. Nothing equivalent exists for a sales engagement platform, which tells you where the product's centre of gravity still sits. |
Zapier | The general-purpose escape hatch, connecting ContactOut to several thousand apps including Google Sheets, Pipedrive, Zoho CRM, Airtable, JobAdder and Mailchimp. Anything without a native connector goes through here, at the cost of a Zap firing per record. |
Clay | Clay ships three ContactOut actions covering mobile number from a LinkedIn profile, personal email from a LinkedIn profile, and professional URL from a personal email. All three run on Clay credits or on your own key, which is the cleanest way to put ContactOut into a waterfall next to Wiza, Prospeo and Findymail. |
ContactSheets for Google Sheets | A free add-on from the Google Workspace marketplace that turns a column of LinkedIn URLs into contact data using two formulas, co_reveal for emails and phones and co_enrich for job and company fields. It needs an API key pasted in, and it is the fastest way to test coverage on a real list. |
Public API | Around fifteen endpoint groups covering profile enrichment, people and company search, decision makers at a domain, reverse lookup from an email to a LinkedIn profile, email and phone checkers and a campaigns API. Rate limits are published at 60 requests a minute on people search, 150 on the checkers and 1,000 elsewhere. |
Gmail enrichment | A batch service that takes free-mail signups sitting in your product database and returns the name, role, company and LinkedIn URL behind them. It runs through flat file upload, CRM sync or the API, and it is one of the few places ContactOut's personal-email index works in reverse. |
What is missing | We found no vendor-built n8n node and no native connection to Instantly, Smartlead, Lemlist or Outreach, so sending either happens inside ContactOut's own Email Campaigns or through Zapier and a raw HTTP call. ContactOut's help centre also warns that the API accepts one input where the extension weighs several, so API match rates come in below what the browser button shows you. |
Pro’s
The 48.2% hit rate came from an outside audit of 1.3 million lookups rather than a vendor deck, and finishing second behind Wiza on the same candidate population is a real showing for a tool most people meet as a browser button.
Personal emails are the strong half of the database at 150 million of them, and on a list where the work address bounces or the person moved companies in March that is the address still reaching them.
The free tier hands over 5 emails, 5 phones and 5 exports every single day with no card, so a rep can measure the hit rate against your own accounts across a week before anyone talks about a contract.
It reaches a stack through Salesforce and HubSpot, ATS connectors for Lever, Greenhouse and Bullhorn, a Zapier app, three Clay actions and a Google Sheets add-on driven by formulas like co_reveal and co_enrich.
The API is unusually broad for this price band, covering people search, decision makers at a domain, reverse lookup from an email back to a LinkedIn profile, and separate checkers that verify an email or a phone.
Cons
The word unlimited on the paid plans means 2,000 email credits and 1,000 phone credits per account each month, and that ceiling sits in clause 10 of the terms of use instead of on the pricing page.
Every self-serve plan carries a one user per company limit, so your second rep needs a Team quote through sales rather than a second checkout.
Exports are throttled apart from reveals at 300 a month on the Email plan and 600 on Email plus Phone, and that bites the moment you want lists instead of one-off lookups.
The price splits by geography, and dropping the USA, Canada and the UK halves the bill, which leaves the half of the database most B2B teams need sitting on the expensive side of the toggle.
The extension is sold on finding contact details for 75% of people online while the audited hit rate was 48.2% and swung between 43% and 53% month to month, so budget for the rows it leaves blank.
