A managed API that returns LinkedIn and Sales Navigator people and company records for a credit each, with no accounts, cookies or proxies for you to run.
What is
Captain Data
Collecting LinkedIn and Sales Navigator data at volume breaks in the same place, and that place is the accounts. Someone buys the seats, holds the cookies, rotates the proxies and absorbs the restriction when LinkedIn notices. Captain Data sells you the output instead, through an API that returns people and company records for a credit each. The whole surface is eight GET endpoints behind a single API key. You enrich a person or a company from its LinkedIn URL, find either one by name or domain, pull a company's employee list, or paste the query string out of a Sales Navigator search and page through the matches 25 at a time. That is a much narrower product than the one most reviews describe. Captain Data released v1 on 15 October 2025 and closed its old no-code platform, with its 100-plus workflow templates and its LinkedIn actions, on 31 December 2025. The buyer today is a product team, and lemlist, AiSDR, Cargo and Rippling sit on the logo wall. We would put Captain Data behind a product that needs profile data on demand, and we would keep client scraping where it is. Nebor has not run it, because our extraction sits in PhantomBuster, Apify and n8n feeding Clay, where a bad week costs a burner account rather than a per-record invoice.
Integrations and the modern GTM stack
Captain Data used to be a workflow platform with native connectors, and the v1 product has none of that. What you connect to now is a REST API and a hosted MCP server, so every tool in your stack reaches it through an HTTP call you write yourself.
REST API | Eight GET endpoints on api.captaindata.com/v1 covering people enrich, search and find, company enrich, search and find, company employees, and a workspace consumption call. Authentication is an X-API-Key header issued per user rather than per workspace, and the OpenAPI spec and per-endpoint playgrounds are public. |
Sales Navigator queries | People search, company search and the employee endpoint all accept the raw query string from a Sales Navigator search URL, which is the fastest way to reuse targeting you already built. Not every filter survives the trip and account-specific filters are rejected, so saved lists and relationship filters stay behind. |
MCP server | Captain Data hosts the MCP server and gives copy-paste configs for Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf and a pre-built ChatGPT GPT, with no npm package to install. Usage bills against the same credit balance, so an agent left running on a broad prompt spends real money. |
Clay, n8n, Zapier and Make | We found no maintained native app in any of them, so the route is Clay's HTTP API column or an HTTP request node with your key in the header. Captain Data names Clay and lemlist as customers, which means some Clay users are already consuming this data one layer down without buying it directly. |
Quotas and rate limits | A quotas endpoint and a workspace consumption endpoint let you read the credit balance from code, which matters because search endpoints bill per result. Request ceilings run from 2 a second on Bronze to 40 a second on Titanium, and pagination cursors expire after 24 hours. |
What is missing | No CRM push, no Google Sheets, no Slack and no scheduling in the public v1 surface, all of which the retired platform had. There are no LinkedIn actions either, so connection requests, messages and profile visits are gone entirely. Webhooks are referenced in the changelog but absent from the published spec. |
Pro’s
The account problem moves to the vendor, because authentication is one API key header and there is nowhere to plug in a LinkedIn session, a proxy pool or a seat you have to keep warm.
You can lift the query string straight out of a Sales Navigator search URL and pass it to people search or to a company's employee list, so targeting you already built in the interface carries across without being rebuilt.
People search results carry recently_hired and recently_promoted flags on every row, so job-change signal falls out of ordinary list building instead of needing a separate intent purchase.
One credit of company enrichment returns funding date, funding type, amount raised, named investors, a Crunchbase link, office locations and affiliated pages, which is a lot of firmographic work for the money.
The full rate ladder is published on the pricing page rather than quoted on a call, and it runs all the way down to €2.24 per 1,000 credits at the top volume band.
The MCP server is hosted by Captain Data and works with Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf and ChatGPT, so an agent can query profiles and companies before anyone writes integration code.
Cons
They switched off the product their customers had built on: the no-code platform with its 100-plus templates went dark on 31 December 2025, AppSumo lifetime licences included, and anything running there had to be rebuilt against eight endpoints.
The marketing pages promise verified emails, and the published v1 people enrichment schema has no email or phone field at all, so contact data still comes from a waterfall provider you pay separately.
The floor is 2,500 credits at €59.99 per 1,000, so about €150 a month buys 2,500 records, while a PhantomBuster Pro plan at $159 covers far more volume if you are willing to supply the LinkedIn account yourself.
Billing is per result and pagination cursors expire after 24 hours, so an interrupted job restarts from the first page and pays for the same rows twice, and their own docs price a 25-result company search page at 6 credits when the stated formula gives 26.
Compliance here is an assertion you cannot inspect, since the collection method behind the profiles is never published, and LinkedIn's case against the operator of Proxycurl ended with that API closing in July 2025.
